2007 INDIVIDUAL ARTIST FELLOWSHIP AWARDEES ANNOUNCED

 

14 Visual Artists Receive Awards Totaling $20,000

 

(Omaha, NE) April 26, 2007: The Nebraska Arts Council announces the recipients of the 2007 Individual Artist Fellowship Awards in Visual Arts.  Fourteen visual artists, who work and live in Nebraska, have been granted the IAF Visual Arts Fellowships. 

 

The IAF Fellowship Awards are awarded in three categories:  $5,000 Distinguished Artist Award; $2,000 Merit Award; and $1,000 Merit Award.  The 2007 IAF Visual Arts recipients include:

 

$5,000 Distinguished Artist Award:

Jamie Burmeister, Sculpture/Installation (Gretna)

$2,000 Merit Award:

James Bockelman, Drawing/Painting (Seward)

Mary Zicafoose, Craft--Textiles (Omaha)

$1,000 Merit Award:

Santiago Cal, Sculpture/Installation (Lincoln)

Ann Gradwohl, Sculpture/Installation (Lincoln)

Eliska Morsel Greenspoon, Photography (Omaha)

Tim Guthrie, Sculpture/Installation (Omaha)

Aaron Holtz, Painting/Drawing (Lincoln)

Leslie Iwai, Sculpture/Installation (Omaha)

Susan McGilvrey, Craft--Ceramics (Omaha)

Marjorie Mikasen, Painting/Drawing (Lincoln)

Troy Muller, Painting/Drawing (Omaha)

Robert Schwieger, Printmaking (Lincoln)

Bill Shaffer, Painting/Drawing (Lincoln)

The IAF award serves to recognize the exemplary efforts of these artists in their creative field.  Other artistic disciplines recognized include: literature, filmmaking, and the performing arts.
